Lindstrom 2018 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
A longer, somewhat drier and somewhat cooler growing season gave vintage 2018 one of those relatively calm, relaxed vibes that winemakers love. With moderate
temperatures during harvest, the grapes rested on the vines until each cluster had reached optimal flavor concentration. This uniformity of ripeness makes for wines
of exceptional aromatic and flavor intensity and, correspondingly, a density that provides their age-worthiness.
The 2018 Lindstrom Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, is reliably replete with an abundance of dark cherry and cola notes. In this vintage, those notes are enhanced by a lift of cardamom, fragrant pink peppercorn and raspberry jam aromas. On the palate, the entry is bright, full, and very broad, with a mid-palate that builds in both texture and flavor intensity. Sweet earth, cedar bark, anise, oak leaf and caramel flavors weave among those of fruit and spice. Through the finish, the wine is unapologetically ripe and complex.
The fruit for this wine was harvested from two sites in the Green Valley area of Russian River Valley, on September 18 2018. They were fermented individually, then combined after 10 months of resting in French Oak barrels (50% new), then returned to barrels for an additional 3 months in barrels. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration in December 2019.
A total of 475 cases were produced.
